GAS Viva La Prima 2-Tone Sunburst – Classic character in a modern offset package

The GAS Viva® La Prima 2-Tone Sunburst combines the aesthetics of classic 1950s and ’60s electric guitars with GAS’s modern approach to the offset design. A one-piece swamp ash body, 2-Tone Sunburst finish and one-piece maple neck give the guitar an unmistakable vintage character, while its approximately 3.03 kg weight, compound radius and distinctive SSH pickup configuration bring a clearly modern edge to the instrument.

The body is made from a single piece of swamp ash and finished in gloss nitrocellulose lacquer. A Medium Relic treatment gives the 2-Tone Sunburst finish the naturally played-in appearance of an instrument with years of history behind it, while the white pickguard and nickel hardware keep the overall look clean and timeless.

The one-piece neck is made from roasted hard maple and shaped to GAS’s Viva Fifty-Sixty Soft V profile. A satin nitrocellulose finish and Light Relic treatment give the neck a natural, broken-in feel, while the compound 9.5″–12″ radius combines vintage-inspired comfort with more modern playability further up the neck. 21 Jescar FW51100-S stainless-steel frets complete the setup with a precise feel and excellent durability.

The electronics offer a particularly versatile combination. GAS handwound Strat-style pickups in the neck and middle positions measure 6.1 kΩ and 6.5 kΩ, while the bridge position features a hotter GAS Firebird pickup at 12.7 kΩ. The neck and middle pickups deliver familiar single-coil clarity and dynamics, while the Firebird bridge pickup adds considerably more power and character when needed. A 5-way switch, CTS 300k pots and a simple Master Volume / Master Tone layout keep everything intuitive and practical.

A Super V Bladerunner tremolo is paired with Gotoh SD91-MG-T locking tuners for a reliable and responsive hardware setup. An aluminium control plate, FliteLite knobs and a Switchcraft output jack complete this classic-looking but thoroughly modern Viva.
